“Progress of SARC in the last Year ”
Hi welcome to the year 2019- 2020, We have been having a re- think of what we can do to enhance the SARC Club Image. The training cabin was getting into a bad state of repair,so this came top of the list .a number of members got together to work on it, firstly removing the rotting roof we found a number of roof beams had rotted so over the summer weeks we replaced these also fitted new roofing sheets, then a generous member donated some rolls of water resistent roofing felt which we melted on during the summer heatwave 2018,next the inside was refurbed and a suspended ceiling was fitted , again generously donated by a member, LED roofing lights were fitted, our technical wizard fitted it up with some of the up to date electronics .recently we decided to go ahead and obtained the club a urban Stepp Ir so in all behind the scenes we have been very busy Thanks to all the help by one and all ,
S.A.R.C. Activities
Despite being turned down for a grant from RSGB to help revamp the portacabin we have gone ahead on our own and it has been repaired and repainted inside and out, mains electricity has been installed which will ensure we can use it during the winter and with that in mind we are erecting masts with antennas for VHF/UHF. The 60ft mast on a trailer has been fitted with new cable and an electric winch this will be used for HF with the very large club beam on top and we intend to run two co-phased vertical delta loops one from each mast as we have plenty of room having negotiated the sole use of the field behind the portacabin.
We are entering a new and very exciting stage in the development of the club and its facilities all due to the hard work and vision of the members, we will be reporting on our progress on a regular basis with lots of photos to show you what we have achieved up to now and what we intend for the future. The facilities are designed to enable any member to operate antennas that they have only been able to dream about up to now because of space or financial restrictions at their QTH.
If you would like to be part of this exciting and forward thinking project you are more than welcome to come and join us and make use of all the facilities as a member of S.A.R.C. just send an E Mail to the Secretary for details, or come along on any Monday evening from 7pm we hope to see you soon.

Amateur radio is a popular technical hobby and volunteer public service that uses designated radio frequencies for non-commercial exchange of messages, wireless experimentation, self-training, and emergency communications.
Amateur Radio is the only hobby governed by international treaty.
As a radio amateur you are able to transmit radio signals on a number of frequency bands allocated specifically to the radio amateurs.
Radio amateurs make use of their frequencies in a number of ways:
There is no better way to explore the fascinating world of radio communications than by becoming a radio amateur.
Whilst the Internet has brought us instant world-wide email, VOIP and video communication, it is tied to an infrastructure of enormous proportions.
With Amateur Radio, you are communicating directly, “point-to-point” with no intermediate infrastructure. You are also communicating with people in their cars, on ships, on remote islands, and in under-developed parts of the world. But perhaps more importantly, Amateur Radio is not just about communicating — it’s about exploring the technology that makes radio communication work — the electronics, the antennas, the propagation characteristics of the ionosphere, and even computers that are linked to radio equipment for all sorts of purposes including specialised modes of communication, station logging, propagation prediction, etc. And most of all is making friends World Wide , why not vist our club and take a look around , you are welcome any time !!
